Good: no dead pixels
Bad:
* the same resolution (1680 x 1050) is shared by 19″, 20″ and 22″ LCD panel. You can imagine the grainy display for your photos. Dot Pitch of 0.282 mm is really stretching the limit. To get some sense of the dot pitch: I have a 15″ LCD with pitch size 0.25 mm, and a 17″ LCD of size 0.264 mm. So don’t be fooled by the size of LCD monitors!!
* Another big problem: some areas are always biased to red, especially for some human faces in photos. Tweak any configuration will not result in a satisfactory result. So bring your favorite family photos when testing your next monitor purchase. Human eyes are very sensitive to colors of faces and cannot be easily fooled.
Totally disappointed with 22″, I am returning it and get a 19″ on which I can at least enjoy my photos.
——update after one week’s research————
It is sad to know that almost all 22″ LCD monitors use TN (twisted nematic) panels. These are only capable of 6-bit color and 262,144 colors. The acclaimed 16.7 million colors are approximated. If you see a monitor advertised with 2 or 5 ms response time, 90% chances are it is based on TN panel.
There are two other better choices, depending on your requirements to color accuracy and response time: S-IPS (super in-plane switching) and S-PVA (super patterned vertical alignment).
Some third-party reviewers confirmed my complain: trustedreviews dot com says “some serious image quality issues. Unfortunately, there’s more bad news to come, with the W2252TQ clearly struggling in our DisplayMate tests. Viewing angles are particularly poor due to severe colour and contrast shift. It also failed to distinguish subtle colour gradients, and produced really pronounced banding in both colour and greyscale. There’s colour contamination over blacks and whites, and a noticeable amount of backlight bleed from both the top and bottom of the display”
Further information for people who want to be informed consumers.
google “anandtech the LCD thread” to find more in-depth discussion and recommendation for you monitor purchase.
check tftcentral dot co dot uk for the panels used by major monitors.
Bottom line: You get what you pay. There is a reason for the high cost (~$400) of Dell UltraSharp 2007FP or HP LP2065, even they are *only * 20″!

I was on the fence about buying this monitor, because I’d never owned one before and I was leaning more toward an HP. But then my niece is always bragging about her LG and so it seems is everyone else and then I called Best Buy and the computer guy there told me that LG monitors were the best for graphic designers. So I went there to check them out and instantly fell in love.
The clerk also informed me that the reason LG monitors are so highly rated is because the company mainly makes displays. He was kind enough to hook it up to a computer so I could check out how Windows looked on it and after that I was sold. I took it home and hooked it up to my computer and was totally blown away. The display is simply stunning and the screen real estate alone was worth the price. Plus it easily outclasses every other electronic product in my home. The settings and forteManager (a program on the enclosed CD) are extremely easy and a blast to use.
I was so used to having to scroll right and left or not being able to see everything on a web page with my old monitor that now it is taking me some time to adjust. The colors, contrast, and text are awesome – even right out of the box with no adjustments. Plus this LG display has a 10,000:1 digital fine contrast that has to be seen to be believed.
If you’re on the fence like I was then get off and go buy this monitor!

For PC use, this is practically usable out of the box. Using it for an Xbox 360 on the other hand requires a bit of tweaking. However, the picture quality is great. I had a 42″ LG LCD 720p tv before and the color was astounding, the blacks were fairly good as well when calibrated accordingly. The 22″ monitor has even better picture color…except for blacks. The high contrast ratio washes out the blacks. I had to significantly drop the brightness (below 25) to even get the black to remotely resemble black. That being said, if you jack up the contrast, you can retain the color and deal with the less than stellar blacks. Love the 2ms response time, absolutely no ghosting in any PC or console game I tried. Overall I’d recommend it unless you can find a deal on a similarly sized Samsung Sync Master.
(Side Note: This monitor is 16:10, the Xbox 360 currently doesn’t have any resolutions that utilize the 16:10 ratio so your stuck with 16:9 until the fall update which is adding both 1440×900 and 1680×1050)

The monitor is beautiful. Sharp, vivid, rich images. We looked at many excellent monitors, but fell in love with this one.
Another reason I like this is because I have another LG monitor, that, about 2 years into the 3 year manufacturer warranty, it just went bad. All that I needed to do was to call up LG, and they sent me a new one (an upgraded model), and then I sent the old one back in a box in which LG paid for the shipping. You couldn’t ask for better customer service!

Takes a lot of adjustments to get the display the way you really want it. Ex: brightness, contrast, etc. Other than that, I’m really really happy with it. No complaints so far.
